19 turn Spec "Money Motor"

Building off our innovative modified motor design, Team Checkpoint brings the longest lasting, high performance Spec 19 turn motor to the racing world. The Money Motor is the latest addition to our growing line of competition-bred racing motors. Designed to meet all ROAR rules and regulations, the Money was engineered with the demanding needs of today's Touring Car racers in mind. This design was developed through countless hours of testing by top level Team Checkpoint drivers such as Steven Hartson, Mike Blackstock and Travis Amezcua.

Endbell

Team Checkpoint Spec motor endbells are precision-molded from lightweight plastic composite material. They provide perfect brush-hood alignment and ample cooling, as the top of the motor features six cooling vents which keep the bearing running free of excessive heat build up.

  • Fixed 24 degree° timing.
  • Factory installed, surface mounted capacitors help eliminate unwanted radio interference associated with high-performance electric motors.

Brush Hood

[A] The brush hood, made from silver-plated copper, features our uniquely engineered brush positioning tube. It allows the brushes to be positioned closer to the commutator than those of any previous designs, reducing any unwanted movement which eliminates the chance for brush bounce and arcing.

[B] Using a secure fastener, the keyed brush positioning tube is fixed through the hood and into the endbell.

Armature

The armature is machine wound and tagged, conforming to all ROAR regulations for Spec 19 Turn racing.

  • [A] Precision balanced stacks produce an efficient, true-running armature free of power-robbing vibration.
  • [B] The diamond-cut commutator provides a perfect seat for the brushes and can be re-trued when maintenance is needed.

Brushes

Team Checkpoint Spec 19 turn motors are equipped with Atlas race brushes. Factory-installed, they provide a balance of power and longevity that delivers unmatched performance over multiple runs.

  • Precision-molded in our exclusive Atlas compound.
  • Shunt wires are extra-large to handle the high current produced when racing.
  • An alignment key ensures perfect brush positioning run after run.

Springs

Each Money Motor includes medium stiffness, Gold coil springs. Both springs are compressed equally inside the retainer nuts on the back side of the brushes. This provides the exact force needed for the brush face to make proper contact on the comm.

Team Checkpoint's coil spring is more consistent and will not cause brush bounce over time.

Can

The 1.4mm thick can features eight vent slots and a black oxide finish, which together help combat heat soak of the individual motor components. Powerful FB9 wet magnets remain strong after the most demanding runs, like those experienced within the high-heat environment of modern touring car racing.
